Membership of PTSDA

The only requirement for membership in PTSDA Anonymous is a sincere desire to improve our lives, our families’, and our co-sufferers’ lives. We are not here to blame but to understand, grow, and share and support each other.

We suffer from PTSD & CPTSD. Some of us are survivors of childhood trauma, some of us are veterans. We are all the same in the sense that we are reliving old wounds and events from the past. Traumas are objective and different people react in different ways. If you cannot get passed your trauma(s) and it is affecting you live then we have an online community that understand and can help.

We are all affected in the same ways and often have developed coping mechanisms that include alcohol, drugs, agoraphobia, hyper awareness, isolation and unhealthy dependencies on others, to mention a few. At PTSDA we are not hear to judge just to share what it is like, living with a complex illness that can baffle our partners, friends and families.

We do get better.

  • Although the traumas may differ, the ways we cope are shockingly similar.

The primary purpose of our group is to tell our story, learn how to deal with OUR OWN human suffering more effectively and develop better survival, coping skills to live normal lifes. Veterans or survivors, how trauma affects us is exactly the same.

Trauma is Greek for WOUND

PTSD Anonymous is open to everyone in the world. We have members in the US, Canada, France, Italy, and the UK.

Members include veterans, survivors and men and women who have suffered trauma of all shapes and sizes. It a past trauma(s) hurt you or wounded you in anyway and is still effecting you today then perhaps you might want to join our meeting.

At PTSDA you are all welcome. We have many UK, US and Canadian members.

  • It can be a lonely, baffling illness. In other ways we are very capable.
  • Come and join us. There is no trauma, too small or too large, that we cannot help with.
  • We are not doctors

Post Traumatic  Stress Disorder Anonymous

PTSD Anonymous was set up on 1st June 2024 to help people suffering from PTSD adopt a programme of recovery.

Currently, we have one weekly meeting on a Thursday Evening, which is open to all fellow sufferers. We are not doctors, but we have a wealth of knowledge and support to help with all types of trauma.

The only requirement for joining PTSDA is that you identify with having a trauma that has not passed. This can include whatever was or is traumatic to you. There is no need for a diagnosis.

  • Our fellowship is open to individuals of all genders and those over the age of 18.
  • Please note that all meetings are free of charge and run by the members on behalf of our members.
  • All meetings are completely anonymous.
  • PTSD/CPTSD or no diagnosis, it does not matter.
  • Meetings are not open to health professionals or non-trauma sufferers, although you can bring a friend for support with the meeting organiser’s agreement.

Please see our contact page for more information about the programme.

At the meetings, you will find fellow sufferers who may have a range of different traumas, but all share a common goal of recovering from what seems to be a hopeless illness.
